  1. Salam,
Came across your blog while searching for SRAI BBB. Couldn’t find much info in the Net, so I thought I’d ask u instead. Hope you can help.

Apa prosedur utk kemasukan ke sekolah tersebut?
We are new to the locality and baru je daftar anak sulung at a nearby sekolah kebangsaan (utk intake Darjah 1 tahun depan). Tapi bila dpt tau pasal SRAI BBB, intrigued la pulak. Boleh ke register at 2 schools?

  2. Assalaamu’alaikum Puan Neta,

    Thank you for visiting.

    1. I couldn’t find much about about SRAI BBB on the net either. Each time I Google, most of the results point back to my site. And this is after the PTA has paid out rm600 last year for a web site! My site is FREE! Go figure.

Most of the answer to your questions I have posted (backdated) here.

The school is classified as INTEGRASI because it integrates both curricula of the New Primary School Curriculum (KBSR); that are Kurikulum Sekolah Kebangsaan and Kurikulum Sekolah Agama.

It is a single session school that begins at 7:40am and ends at 4:00pm, Monday to Friday. It is highly favored by parents in the area who do not wish to enroll their children in a separate school for the Kurikulum Sekolah Agama. Thus doing away with unnecessary logistics. However, this popularity necessitates the taking of an entrance examination.

The examination is held not because it is an elite school, rather because it has limited space. It has only 5 classes for each year batch. In order to maintain an average of 35 students or so per class, it will accept around 175 students from the examination. In 2006, about 300 students took the examination. In 2007, about 250. Those rejected from the examination can appeal the decision during the appeal period. The school also has to reserve some space for students admitted or transferred from other schools under all kinds of extraordinary circumstances.

In 2006, the school emerged champion in the 100PLUS® Super Cup Under-12 Category.

In 2007, its UPSR and PSRA results were among the “top” in the state. Although I don’t have the details on this.

It is a little of a public school, and a little of a private school.

It is a public school, because it is a state school under the jurisdiction of Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (JAIS). Apart from the couple of hundred ringgits you have to spend on each student at the beginning of the year (standard fees, accessories, exercise books, etc.), the compulsory monthly fee is rm50 for lunch, and rm11 for the PTA. rm10 bus fee for boys of Year 4, 5, and 6 to transport them to the masjid for Friday prayers. Third and additional children enrolled in the same year (and same school) are exempted from the PTA fee. All text books and activity books are under the Government loan scheme for ALL students. The activity books are to be actually used by students, and returned to the school at the end of the year for auditing purposes. Each year, students will get new activity books.

It is a “private school,” because it is NOT under the Ministry of Education. The administration is under the Education Department of JAIS. The budget is from the Selangor State Government, not from the Federal Government (hint: less money, same bureaucracy, if not more). Being a “private” school, a lot of things the school needs have to be provided for by the PTA.

    2. The school will generally announce the availability of the Admission Application Form by late March or early April. It will usually do so by putting up a huge banner near its entrance. Yes, this is a highly advanced communication age. You have to personally go to the school office during office hours to pick up the form and pay the rm4.00 fee. You can issue a check payable to “SEKOLAH RENDAH AGAMA INTEGRASI BANDAR BARU BANGI,” if you so wish. Yes, you can. 😉

I shall post the announcement here, too, insya’Allah.

The entrance examination shall be sometime in May or June covering Bahasa Melayu, Bahasa Inggeris, Bahasa Arab, Jawi, Matematik, and Reading (Rumi and Jawi). Some pre-school do not yet completely cover all these disciplines by May or June, so you have to prepare your children accordingly.

    3. Yes, you can register at 2 schools, and you should. Sekolah Kebangsaan near you have to accept your children if you live in the vicinity, regardless of how crowded is the school. Proof of address is required, and usually there is a closing date. In Bandar Baru Bangi, Sek. Keb. Jalan 3 and Sek. Keb. Seksyen 7 are extremely crowded. But Sek. Keb. Jalan 3 has a very good academic reputation. Some Sekolah Kebangsaan allow parents to register their children as soon as the birth certificate is available.

Puan Neta, I hope I have answered your question as complete as I can.

You know, as soon as I saw your comment, I was scratching my head as I know I need to go through old documents to give a credible answer. But it was good exercise.

  3. W’salam, brother Mazlan.
Thank you very much for the lengthy and informative reply. I appreciate the trouble you went through 🙂
I’ll keep a lookout for the new admissions announcement in March.
(PTA bayar RM600 utk website tu kat sape? You might as well compile all your related entries and make the website lah 😛 )

  4. The person who received the payment is now a member of the PTA. We were made to understand the site is currently under reconstruction, and it was active before. The person is supposedly now hosting the site at his own work premises.

As net savvy as I am, I have never noticed the site up before.

The question may be brought up at the next PTA meeting. But the culture is, those who ask too much may end up having to do it themselves. 😛

I’m no web developer, and PTA is a non-profit organization. Relevant site is not easy to maintain, especially by outsiders.

We shall see what happen this coming Saturday.

ps: There are two other schools in the area that also integrates both curricula into a single session. But they are actual private schools with monthly fees of about rm230. They are the SERI ABIM in Sg. Ramal Dalam and the Sekolah Islam Al-Amin at Kg. Sg. Tangkas. They are also very good schools.

    Thank you.
