Malaysia 12th Election 2008 Consequences: Anwar PM in April

Check your messages in your inboxes.

Rumour has it that there will be some crossovers among MPs that will enable Anwar Ibrahim to become Prime Minister this April. Wan Azizah steps down, he will contest and win, and MPs begin crossing over to form majority.

How simple. It could also be an April Fool’s joke. But nothing’s a joke these days, we all have learnt.

Twist and Shout by minnaq-jingo
Anwar’s Twist and Shout courtesy of minnaq jinggo here.

Anwar himself doesn’t like the term “Opposition.” Instead he prefers to be called as “government in waiting.” See Malaysiakini here. He even gave a twisted denial here.

Cross my heart and hope to die.

  1. Before any cross over, I hope these people gives the BA a trial for at least a year(?). They might sound like saint now, but we all know they are human. And since we could not read minds, we do not know what is the real reason they are in BA and really want to win the election. There might be a wolf or two there in human form or maybe many? I advice caution and it is actually not the time to celebrate yet. Celebrations, if any, should only be in Kelantan, where they had experienced the current government and like and vote them back. As for the rest, tunggu dan lihat la. Jangan melatah.

  2. Cik Siti,

The Alternative Front is no saint. Wolves are everywhere. But the people are no fools.

This message in itself is a caution, not a celebration. For all.

Saudara Anwar had come really close, and we had seen a lot of his fangs. He could really dance to the day’s tune. So that is the caution.

Malaysiakini reported in Bahasa Malaysia yesterday:

Anwar: Wakil BN cadang lompat parti
    Isnin, 17 Mac 2008 8:23pm

Tambahnya, mereka dialu-alukan beralih parti “jika mereka menerima agenda kita.”

Anwar says BN MPs mull defection
    Mar 17, 08 7:01pm

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim today said he had held talks with a number of ruling coalition lawmakers interested in defecting after this month’s landmark elections. …

So the caution here is that if anyone wants to crossover for a price, the person has chosen the wrong party, but he is welcomed to crossover if he accepts the Alternative’s agenda.

In politics, anything is possible. We’ve been gambling for fifty years, there’s nothing else to lose with this one. We’ll just have to wait and see.

  4. There you go, Malaysiakini reported more development on this here.

Anwar is moving towards forming a new government with possible defection in Sabah and Sarawak. This is getting more interesting by the day.
